Ivan
Carter was born in Zimbabwe and spent his childhood pursuing
a passion for all that is natural. As early as 13 years
old he received his first award as a junior wildlife photographer.
Educated in Zimbabwe, Ivan spent most f his days day dreaming
about fishing and learning about the bush. This did not
stand him a very good stead with his grades but provided
for him a firm base on which to build his guiding career.
With a strong passion for falconry and egg collecting, time
out of the classroom was seldom spent on homework!

Ivan left school and spent his first 18 months working at
a wildlife orphanage tending sick, injured and orphaned
wild birds and animals. 1989 found Ivan in his first guiding
job at Sangati Lodge, and he completed his guiding exams
under the tutorship of John Stevens at the end of 1991.
Over the years Ivan has gone from strength to strength in
the guiding field and has been recognized as one of Africa’s
top guides.
