CAMPS & LODGES

Some examples of the camps and lodges Ivan visits throughout the continent

This is a light camp in the middle of the Serengeti, from your tent you are quite likely to see hundreds of animals, there are no roads and you certainly won't see any other people. Showers and loos are not attached but are close by and there are two tents sharing each of these.

This is a classic or luxury mobile, the loos and showers are " en suite " Each tent is about 12 meters( 13 yards) long and is comfortably furnished….These camps are often well off the beaten track and in the heart of the best gameviewing areas.
This is a permanent tented camp, that is to say, it doesn't move , as you can see, apart from the fact that the walls are canvas, it is really a solid structure. Often these rooms have doors and even windows. Permanent tented camps are often on platforms, particularly in Southern Africa.
This is a luxury permanent tented camp, very very comfortable with all the "touches" of a luxury lodge.
This is a safari lodge, very comfortable, usually these are in areas where the game is excellent, and it's always a pleasure to come home to the service that they offer after a hot, dusty day in Africa!
This is a luxury safari lodge , 5 star and lacking nothing. These lodges are well known for their attention to detail and their amazing structure and layout. The lodge itself becomes an experience with luxuries such as in room massage, your own butler, just to name a few!!

As you cross the African continent, what one refers to as a camp can mean many things. It can be an elaborate tent on a platform with an en suite bathroom, a lounge, and a private deck overlooking a stunning view, or it can be a small leaky dome tent with hardly room to stretch your toes!!

Here are some pictures of typical campsite scenes on Ivan's safaris.
